A month after I responded to a cold job posting, Mr. Cole introduced himself seeing if I was still interested in an analyst position he was supposedly recruiting for at the time. He inquired if I could meet him for coffee on the other side of town that afternoon. After finally getting him to reschedule for 7am the next day, Mr. Cole admitted that he initially intended to toss out my resume until he learned that I was a real estate investor.

He then shamelessly proceeded to hock his wife being a real estate agent and that I should use her for my next transactions. I played along as well as I could, and afterward I asked him to email me to keep me in the loop with his client for a job. He replied that he doesn't reply to emails and phone calls, as it would take too much time out of his schedule.

Little did I know at the time that he works out of his house, nor did I know if he actually had a client or real job posting. So Mr. Cole texted me once or twice in the next week just to keep up appearances, but when I asked (again) about his client or the position, he unsurprisingly came up short. In light of his concern about wasting his own time following up with prospects, he seemed to have little concern wasting the time of others. After my very short and completely bizarre experience, I almost wonder if Kevin Cole or his business truly existed at all.
