Church Avenue Merchants Block Join us for the first time in three years at CAMBA's Night at the Ballpark! Rana is a young mother of four who left an abusive relationship and built a successful future for herself and her children.

Alijah overcame his family's struggle with homelessness and found the path to college - through the guidance and support of CAMBA's Leading to College program. Each year, CAMBA reaches more than 64,000 individuals and families, including 10,000 youth.
Services
In our fifth decade of service, CAMBA remains committed to providing resources and support that build a foundation of economic stability, educational fulfillment, strong families, and healthy lives. CAMBA serves more than 65,000 individuals and families each year, citywide, including 10,000 youth. Our 160+ programs in 95 locations improve the lives of a diverse cross section of New Yorkers.
CAMBA began in 1977 as a small merchant association in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, working on crime reduction, neighborhood beautification, and city service improvements. Soon, it became apparent that merchant success depended on helping the large number of immigrants in the area learn English, secure jobs, and contribute to the local economy.
CAMBA is a non-profit agency that provides services that connect people with opportunities to enhance their quality of life. CAMBA is a community of clients, staff, volunteers, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive.
The challenges many New Yorkers face are complex and multi-layered. It's not enough to provide programs that focus on one issue. Through our work with our clients, we have learned that people often need help in several areas at the same time: they struggle to pay rent or find safe, affordable housing, which affects their ability to get health care, keep a job, or raise their children.

When I came across CAMBA's HomeBase I read that it is a homelessness prevention program that helps people stay in their homes so they won't be out on the streets. I was told that they offer various services to make sure people stay where they are but have been very difficult to reach. Also to be assigned to a caseworker to help your case is a journey as well.

I have helped others with this process and it has taken longer than most. I understand there is a housing crisis in NYC and it has been happening for some time. So demand is at an all-time high especially once the pandemic hit. However, a 2-3 month wait to be assigned and still not have someone advocate for you is insane. Some matters are time-specific and have to be on top of the current situation at hand.

Also first off please hire enough so when calls come in they are answered. I can''t tell you how many times I have called and had to leave a message. Also call back. If there were a better steamline to get individuals assigned and be serviced Also arranged cases by priority and time concrtsaints. So here is my suggestions. I advise Once you reach out to get all your concerns out the way and get direct contact information from the caseworker you spoke to.

Again it is very difficult to reach someone. Also stay on top of our case so they will as well. If you don't provide all the important information then services won't be as effective.

Please don't use camba to get help with apartments. Most of there apartment buildings are unsafe assisted living programs full of drug addicts and mentally ill. My mother was found dead on her apartment floor with the door wide open on 4/26/22 3 days later 4/29/22 the same person whom mysteriously found her body broke into her sealed apartment which I couldn't even get into due to investigation. Something ain't right. They know exactly what happened to my mother but I will get justice in Jesus name Protect your loved ones. God bless all of you reading this.

Camba is the WORST place for hiv+ ppl. They only cater to older ppl with heavy drug problems. Their sshp program is unbelievably the worst program to get housing assistance from.

Well they were very supportive and understanding of my situation, and they helped me with many different situations and continue to help me. But, most of all they have helped me get an apt. All thought it's considered temporary. Bcuz I'm subletting one of there places but I'm know longer homeless and I can live here as long as it takes until I'm able to find permanent housing. I'm so happy bcuz I'm know longer in the Shealter. Thank You Camba
